200W-EXPERIMENTS ARE BECOMING ORDINARY BUISSINES AT ELCAT

Researcher:

Our continuous research efforts in the field of electrochemical reactor engineering made it possible to effectively scale up our CO2 electrolyzer technology. Starting out with small scale prototype reactors, we successfully developed the first cell of our 1kW CO2 electrolyzer stack. Currently this single cell is housing a 200cm² electrode and can operate at a peak power of 200W. At this power rating the electrolyzer cell is using 50A of electrical current to convert 40% of its CO2 feed into formic acid. In the near future we will increase the capacity of this reactor by expanding the single cell system into a multi-cell electrolyzer stack.
